At Exer Health, we aim to support your healthcare team by offering them tools to collect valuable measurements and metrics that they can use to monitor your progress.
We do not prescribe exercises or assessments ourselves - those are all chosen by your healthcare team.
We do not confer with your healthcare team about your protocol or recommended exercises.
We do not record or retain video of you performing your exercises and assessments - we simply send performance data and metrics back to your healthcare team.
We do not have access to your healthcare records outside of the metrics and measurements that Exer Health generates.
We are primarily a software provider, and we build tools for healthcare professionals - we do not make our tools available directly to patients or consumers.
When you perform your exercises and assessments, our app collects measurements and metrics. We send those metrics to a dashboard exclusive to your healthcare team. They use those metrics and insights to evaluate your progress and (in some cases) to suggest changes to your protocol.
Download the Exer Health app from the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad. (*Exer Health only works on Apple devices for now)
Check your email for an invitation from your provider to create an Exer Health account. If you didn't receive an email, check your junk folder and/or reach out to your provider directly to resend the email.
Follow the tutorial in this video:
From the email click on the "Activate your account" button.
Sign-up by using your email and creating a password.
You did it! Once you log into your account, the exercises assigned by your provider should show up. If you're not seeing your exercises, please contact your provider.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach us at support@exer.ai.
If you're not seeing your exercise program in the app, it's probably because your provider hasn't assigned one to you yet.
Please reach out to your provider directly with any questions about your exercise program.
Once assigned, the exercises will automatically show up in your app and you'll see a screen that looks something like this:
Here are some tips to make the Exer Health app work better each time:
Check out our set-up video:
Ensure that your whole body, from head to toe, is visible in the camera frame when you do the exercise.
There should only be one person (i.e. you) in the camera at all times. Make sure that there aren't other people or pets in the background.
Do your exercises in a space with a less busy background, i.e. as little distraction as possible. This is so that the AI can better identify your movement during the exercise session.
Turn on automatic updates (see below) on your device to ensure that you have the latest Exer Health version. We're constantly working on improvements and fixes to make your Exer experience better.
To turn on auto updates:
Go to Settings → Tap "App Store" → Turn on App Updates
We push updates to Exer Health regularly.
They improve the performance of exercises - measurements, range of motion estimates, etc. We particularly focus on improving your user experience while setting the app up and calibrating it to get accurate results.
Turning on automatic updates for your device means you'll always have the latest build of our app.

This is a quick video demonstrating how to do this:
Exer Health was built by a small team that's primarily located in Denver, Colorado.
Zaw, Clint and Sean came together in ~2018 to explore the intersection of computer vision, AI and human health. A few years of research and development led to the platform you see today, but the core mission never changed.
Put simply, that mission is to help millions move, train and play better.
More on that below.
The founding team benefits from the diverse background of our founders.
Zaw has a long career focused on building software companies, as an operator and investor.
Clint has a long career in human performance and physiology/kinesiology - he is our resident expert on exercises and industry trends.
Sean is one of the industry's foremost mobile platform and artificial intelligence experts - he turns our product vision into the magical experiences you'll see in our software.
Around them we've assembled a small, powerful team of domain experts and operators that care deeply about helping our healthcare providers and patients achieve their goals.
Help millions move, train and play better.
We are working towards that mission with some important constraints and values.
We work hard to build simple tools that work on devices that most people already have in their homes and offices - smartphones and tablets. We feel that hardware solutions - wearables, sensors etc - present intrusive and costly barriers to providing underserved patient populations with important motion-related healthcare.
We don't use video recordings of you to perform our measurements. We have figured out how to accomplish accurate results without invading your privacy.
We use proprietary machine learning to train our models, instead of settling for models developed by third parties or included in releases from large tech companies like Apple and Google. This gives us more control over how our system learns and understands human motion.
Finally, we aim for outstanding support experiences and open numerous channels for you to get in touch with us. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email us or respond to a text that we send you as a part of your health journey.
At Exer Health, we care deeply about your privacy and well-being. That's why, from the very beginning, we chose not to use recordings of you in your home.
We put in extra effort to develop a special way of measuring your body movements without recording any video of you. It might have been a bit harder to do, but we believe it's important to respect your privacy.
With Exer Health, you can trust that you're never being recorded. Our technology focuses only on certain points of your body that help us give you helpful information about your health. We don't pay attention to your room, clothing, or even your face, just the parts that matter for your fitness.
So, you can enjoy the benefits of Exer Health with peace of mind, knowing that your privacy is always protected.
This is a quick demonstration of what the technology is focused on: specific markers that help us produce useful metrics.
Below is a quick video walking you through downloading the app to your mobile phone and getting your account set up.
Your healthcare provider will have added an exercise program to your app, which you will see once you are logged in.
If you have any issues, you can email us or use the chat button in the lower right corner of this screen.
It's important that you give Exer's technology a good view of yourself so that it can perform accurate assessments of your movements.
When you open Exer Health you'll see a prescribed list of exercises that your healthcare team would like you to perform.
Click Get Started to begin. You will be taken to a calibration screen.
It is best to place your phone on a table, couch or chair and have the screen facing you.
As you back away from the phone it will begin its calibration.
NOTE: For landscape exercises you'll put your phone on the ground!
Once the phone is calibrated it will instruct you to begin your exercises!
